250g bag of soap nuts with muslin washing bag
Soap nuts are small dried fruit shells that are grown and harvested in Nepal. They have been used for thousands of years to clean clothing as they are high in a natural form of soap called saponin.
Soap nuts are low sudsing which makes them a perfect natural detergent for use in all washing machines including top loading and high efficiency.
Soap nuts are allergy free and are known for their benefits for people with skin conditions. They are excellent for use on clothes that come into contact with sensitive skin, including babies clothes and cloth diapers.
Soap nuts are safe to use on delicate fabrics. Because they are so mild, they preserve the colours and structure of your clothes longer than commercial laundry detergents. Soap nuts will leave your laundry fresh and clean.
There is no need to purchase liquid fabric softener or softener sheets when using soap nuts, as they leave clothes soft, naturally. If you feel the need for scent, simply add a few drops of essential oils to the load once it is full of water.
Soap nuts contain no petrochemicals, like those found in commercial laundry detergent which means that every wash is clean and safe for you and the environment.
How to Use Soap Nuts:
Simply place the soap nuts into the cotton drawstring bag provided and tie closed. Place the bag into the washing machine with your load of laundry.
Cold Water Load use 3-5 soap nuts or equivalent in partial shells. This is enough for 4-5 large loads.
Hot Water Load use 2 soap nuts or equivalent. This is enough for 1 large load. The hot water will cause the soap nuts to release most of their saponin.
For extra tough stains soak your clothes in a soap nut solution consisting of 5 soap nuts or equivalent in warm water for 20-30 minutes.
To brighten whites, simply add 1 tbsp of baking soda per wash.
